Hi lovely readers,
Last Saturday, we set up Wildalaya at the Subiaco night markets — our very first one. After building this brand quietly online, it felt a little surreal seeing everything come to life on a rack, under a gazebo, with music and people all around.
We spent the afternoon setting up slowly — figuring out the gazebo (first time 😅), struggling a bit with getting the table height right, arranging pieces by colour, adjusting little details (probably more than needed). There’s always that still moment before it all begins… and then suddenly, it’s real.

The atmosphere was beautiful. Live music in the background, families on picnic rugs, food trucks lined up, people just enjoying the long weekend. It felt more like a celebration than a marketplace — and honestly, it was.
People stopped by, touched the fabric, tried pieces on, shared kind words. It was slow and easy. But we realised quite quickly — it wasn’t really a “shopping” kind of crowd. People were there to eat, unwind, and be present.

And what we make isn’t really impulse-buy. It’s something you take your time with, something you come back to.
One of the loveliest parts of the evening was seeing familiar faces 🤍
Dominika (our beautiful model) came by with her kids, Fareah dropped in, and Kayliegh came to say hi too. That kind of support… it really means a lot, especially on a first like this.

So no, we didn’t walk away with big sales. But we did walk away with something better — perspective.
We learnt that people are curious, that feeling the fabric really matters, and that markets aren’t just about selling… they’re about connection.
One of our favourite moments was hearing, “Oh… this is not what I expected” after someone felt the fabric. That stayed with us.
This was our first market, not our last. We’ll be back. A little wiser, a little more prepared, and still doing things slowly.
Note the dates, see you there!
